Kathryn "Kay" Mendoza Fanlo is a well noted Dabawenya artisan and founder of the kathrynfanlo brand. Our accessory pieces consists of intricately crafted neckpieces, earrings, bag and scarf accessories.

We describe our creations as a rich fusion of Mindanaoan indigenous influences and contemporary design. In making the accessories we play with various materials such as glass beads, semi precious stones, fresh water pearls, metal, wood, and other mediums where we can incorporate with clay. 

Our founder traces her craft when as a child she would play with her mom's pieces of clothing and beading materials rather than toys. 

During her high school days, her mom, a dressmaker, entrusted her to do various bead works for gown orders. In college, she sells beaded necklaces and earrings on the side. A means to sustain and subsidize her daily needs. 

In 2018, she won the Habi Kadayawan Style and Fashion showcase under the hobbyist/artist category.

With an aim to support Mindanaoan culture and put great value on the work of indigenous people, the kathrynfanlo brand currently partners with the Mandaya tribe of Davao Del Norte highlands to produce uniquely created scarves. 

The community program provides sustainable livelihood and motivates the younger generations of local weavers to enliven a rich culture and proud heritage. 

Our pieces are showcased in a stand alone store/boutique located at the Likha Gift Shop at Acacia Hotel, Lanang Davao City.
